Accessibility checks for a WooCommerce journey

A product page is only part of a shop. Test what happens when a customer chooses an option, adds an item, corrects an error and reaches the payment step.

Use a safe test environment.

Use a staging site and the payment provider's documented test mode. Do not submit a real order or expose customer data for a review. Test a representative simple product and variable product if your shop uses them.

Check product choices without a mouse.

Move through variation controls and quantity fields with the keyboard. Check names and instructions, visible focus, and what happens when an unavailable combination is selected.

Check changes and errors.

Review the feedback after adding an item, changing quantity or submitting an incomplete checkout form. Confirm errors identify the affected field and explain a useful correction. Check the same flow with assistive technology.

Use public-page scans for the part they cover.

The scanner includes public product pages and configured WooCommerce shop, cart, checkout and account URLs. It does not scan authenticated customer data or every cart, validation and payment state. Treat public-page results as one input, not a complete checkout review.

Retest the real design.

Review the live theme's focus styles, responsive layout and colours. Repeat after checkout, theme or payment-plugin changes. The manual checklist keeps these steps next to your scan findings.

A first review is a starting point, not a compliance certificate. Automated checks and short checklists can miss barriers. Test real journeys and include people who use assistive technology.
